Nautical Images

I sail, in fact I have lived on a sailboat. Moving from one point to another gives me a wonderful opportunity to capture some of what I consider to be the most beautiful sights found on this planet. Images of boats, water, the shore and ports continue to form a huge mainstay of fine art world wide. Sailing is, perhaps, the last great romantic method of travel left to us. I hope you agree.

NOTE: I have listed prices for standard prints through paypal. Some images, (names in red below) and already edited to print large on canvas but most mages can be printed in custom sizes and prints, (such as canvas wraps or metallic prints) on a special order, basis. I have set up several of my best sailing images to be printed exceptionally large, (up to 30"x40") canvas wrap prints. These are designated with colored names such as: Sisters.

Bodie Island Light
Shot at sunset on North Carolina's renown Outer Banks this image captures the solitude and loneliness of the lighthouse and the keeper's abode. Each giclee print is hand signed and individually numbered, print runs do not exceed 25

Tranquility

Under the Mainsail
On deck of the Angelique, a 95' steel hulled schooner, and looking up at her red sails ranks as a one-of moment and had to be one of the most beautiful scenes of my life. Each giclee print is hand signed and individually numbered, print runs do not exceed 25, canvas prints limited to 10.

A Study in Blue
Heritage following. This was an extremely long distance shot with the coast of Maine in the far distance. And, yes, the blue color is natural, comes with the distance. Each canvas wrap print is hand signed and individually numbered, print runs do not exceed 10

Fore Topsail
The Fore Topsail failed to unfurl and the mate had to climb to the peak to let it out by hand. Glad it was his job and not mine. Each giclee print is hand signed and individually numbered, print runs do not exceed 25,canvas prints limited to 10.

Wooden Boat Harbor
The Windjammer Association held a meeting here which was the occasion for the rendezvous. I took four separate photos and stitched them together in Photoshop. (software of the gods) Each canvas wrap print is hand signed and individually numbered, print runs do not exceed 10

Swing Bridge
This was shot from my boat coming south on the Inter Coastal Waterway in Virginia South of Norfolk. Hard to believe this area can be so peaceful and serene. Each giclee print is hand signed and individually numbered, print runs do not exceed 25

The Schooner Heritage
Heritage, under full sail, coming up on our starboard side. We were deliberately chose to book passage on a cruise that held a rendezvous with the Main Windjammer fleet. Each giclee print is hand signed and individually numbered, print runs do not exceed 25

The Mary Day
The Mary Day crosses in front of two more schooners, one of which is running wing on wing. This was at the start of the rendezvous with the windjammer fleet. Each giclee print is hand signed and individually numbered, print runs do not exceed 25

Downwind Run
Heritage, one of the Maine Windjammers, heading for port under full sail. We were lucky enough to book passage on a cruise that held a rendezvous with the fleet. Each giclee print is hand signed and individually numbered, print runs do not exceed 25

Sisters
Two of the Maine windjammers in close proximity. Once a common sight, now far more rare. These boats run a passenger service in the Penobscot Bay area of Maine. Each giclee print is hand signed and individually numbered, print runs do not exceed 25, canvas prints limited to 10.

Black and White and Sailing

Fog And Gull
This award-winning image was shot at one of my favorite venues, Beaufort town docks. A foggy morning with a braver-than-I sailor setting out. Each giclee print is hand signed and individually numbered, print runs do not exceed 25

Silver Skies
A very rare occurrence, an evening fog on the Neuse River. No one could remember when the last one had happened. Each giclee print is hand signed and individually numbered, print runs do not exceed 25

The Pequod
A derelict shrimp boat off I-10 east of Houston Texas. There was a nasty storm coming in and the colors were amazing. Each giclee print is hand signed and individually numbered, print runs do not exceed 25

Another Day In Paradise
A perfect day as well on the waterfront at America's coolest small town, Beaufort, NC. The Duke Marine Lab is in the background. Each giclee print is hand signed and individually numbered, print runs do not exceed 25

Frytha Sticks
You rarely get a chance to shoot this so it was a delight to drive down and capture her detail work. I went several times. Each giclee print is hand signed and individually numbered, print runs do not exceed 25

The Wolf
The Wolf is the flagship of the Conch Republic Navy, (a farce to be reckoned with). She was on a good will tour and spent a week in New Bern. Each giclee print is hand signed and individually numbered, print runs do not exceed 25

Ada Mae
While the Wolf was arriving I was lucky enough to get an image of two of New Bern's icons, the Ada Mae and the pergola at Union Point Park. Each giclee print is hand signed and individually numbered, print runs do not exceed 25

Follow the Leader
The Wolf followed the Ada Mae into the turning basin to dock at the downtown waterfront. Not often you get a chance for a shot like this Each giclee print is hand signed and individually numbered, print runs do not exceed 25

Beaufort Gig
The Beaufort Oars is a drinking club with a slight rowing problem. This is one of their gigs which can be seen on the water at various times. Each giclee print is hand signed and individually numbered, print runs do not exceed 25

Flaked and Ready

Feeding Time

The Cape Lookout Lighthouse is a major tourist attraction and can be visited by private boat our commercial ferry from the mainland. Each giclee print is hand signed and individually numbered, print runs do not exceed 25

Yaupon Pier

Renata At Rest
Marinas during a quiet time, are among the most restful and relaxing human occupied constructs. That is, when there is no party or fight or argument going on. Each giclee print is hand signed and individually numbered, print runs do not exceed 25

Reflection 1

Different Worlds

Foggy Morning

The Coast Guard
